The abbey of La Trinite in Vendome was founded in 1034. Its interior contains elements of a variety of architectural styles from Romanesque to Gothic. This statue of a king or possibly a bishop shows traces of its original colouring and a remnant of red on the cheek gives it an embarrassed air. Would he be less embarrassed if the abbey was better maintained?
