This trebuchet - a medieval catapult is mounted on the battlements of the Chateau de Castelnaud.
It is doubtful whether the occupants of Beynac (which can be seen in the distance) would have had anything to fear from this primitive "stone-thrower" due to its limited range. Stones from the trebuchet would have, at best, splashed harmlessly into the Dordogne below.
