BACK

In two days' time the Arc de Triomphe and the Avenue des Champs Elysees will be the venue for the traditional parade of representatives of all the components of the French military forces as the Fete Nationale (14 Juillet) is celebrated. The parade has been held almost every year since 1880 except during the World Wars. Groups from other countries are sometimes included - for example a contingent of New York fire fighters marched in 2002 honouring their bravery in dealing with the 9/11 disaster of 2001.
