QUAI DE LA TOURNELLE
The Quai de la Tornelle in the 5e arrondissement is a popular spot where Parisians enjoy the summer sun or the shade of the poplar trees.
In the background is le Pont de la Tournelle with its towering statue of St Genevieve, the patron saint of Paris.
For some reason she has her back to the centre of Paris as she looks upstream. Perhaps it depicts her looking outwards to emphasize her protective role over the city.
