SAINT-GENEST, LAVARDIN

This statue of the Madonna and Child is to be found in a quiet corner of an 11th century church, Saint-Genest in Lavardin.

It is named after Saint Genest who was the Bishop of Clermont in the 7th century.

The walls of the church are covered with murals which have recently been uncovered after having been covered by white wash for centuries.
