PLACE VENDOME






































This 18th century square was designed by the architect Jules Hardouin-Mansart in 1698 with the intention of housing academics and embassies. However, despite Napoleon keeping an eye on proceedings from the top of this tower, bankers moved in and built their homes around the square instead.
