POMPIDOU CENTRE

The Pompidou Centre in le quartier Beaubourg is not a building that can easily be ignored.

It was opened in 1977 amid vehement controversy between those who praised its revolutionary "inside out" design and those who hated its glaring modernity in the midst of centuries old classical buildings.

The Centre houses the Musee National d'Art Moderne which is divided into three major collections:
Art from 1905 to 1918;
Art from 1918 to 1960 and Art since 1960.

It is worth a visit even if it is just to enjoy the panoramic views of Paris from the top floor restaurant!
