The Opera Garnier in the 9th arrondissement is one of the most striking buildings of Paris. Its architectural style has been described as Second Empire Beaux-Arts with neo-Baroque decorative elements, one of which I focus on below:
Charles Gumery's gilded statue entitled. "La Poesie" [Poetry] which stands atop the right-hand column of the facade of the opera house. It is matched by the statue of "Harmony" on the left.
