On a calm day in Voiron one does not have to look for signposts to find the Chartreuse distillery! One can follow one's nose and the pungent bouquet of the secret mixture of herbs and spirits will lead one in the right direction.
In the cellar (la cave de vieillissement) the monks have found it necessary to remind themselves and visitors not to succumb to the temptation of opening a tap to sample the contents of the huge oak barrels in which the magic potion matures before being bottled.
