PLACE VENDOME

Napoleon, depicted in the garb of a Roman emperor, looks down on the 17th century square, le place Vendome.

Originally planned to be surrounded by embassies and academies, it soon became the chosen locality for bankers to build their magnificent homes.

The square has remained largely unchanged over the years and is now occupied by jewellers, banks and hotels.

This photograph was taken on a beautiful cloudless winter's day in December 2013.
