CHATEAU DES DUCS DE SAVOIE
This impressive chateau was the home of the Dukes of Savoy who ruled this region from 1416 to 1860. The Duchy of Savoy was a state of Italy, but had earlier (1416 - 1720) been a Vassal of the Holy Roman Empire. Savoie became part of France in terms of the Treaty of Turin in 1860.
