Les bouchons ... the corks ... for wine connoisseurs they are reminders of the bouquets, the tastes of bottles of wine enjoyed (or perhaps, occasionally not enjoyed), but for this Bordeaux wine merchant they formed the front of his shop counter.
I did not count the corks, but I am sure they represented the tastings and enjoyment of many, many years!
