VISIT FRANCE

One of the photographs in the collage posted yesterday included a poster which suggested, "Visit France" and all I can respond with is "Oui - c'est une bonne idee!"   No matter where one travels in France, one is confronted by magnificent sights, beautiful countryside and ancient buildings which recall the turbulent past of this wonderful country.

Take the Chateau de Courtanvaux as an example - which was built in the 16th century near present day Besse-sur-Braye in the Sarthe area by Gilles de Souvre.  The chateau was built by the feudal lord to "reassure the tenant farmers that they would be safe in the event of an attack!"

It is surrounded by forests and a nearby lake which make it well worth visiting.  More pictures of Courtanvaux will be featured this week ... enjoy!
